feminist therapy: your invitation to liberation and transformation

In the words of Louise Glück,
We look at the world once, in childhood.
The rest is memory.

I cannot be all things to all people.

I see you as a full participant in your healing process, as we work to connect you with an inner sense of self.

Physical space: create a quality of refuge, encourages the “don’t know mind”; containment

TRUTH: What do you let others believe about you that is not really true? Thoughts are not the truth. Through the practice of mindfulness, students begin to notice the pattern, name it, and then start to investigate it.

ROLE OF THE RELATIONSHIP:
My role in therapy is to be a constant, reliable, and non-abandoning emotional homebase for new aspects of the self to emerge in the safety of relationship.

self-inquiry
not my role to tell you who you are. I can provide tools to cultivate truth, clear seeing, and exploring reality directly.

brilliant sanity
Openness – see what we see, experience what we experience, without prejudice; be curious, interested in what arises
Clarity – we can experience whatever arises directly and completely; awareness itself
Warmth – compassion or tender-heartedness, a softness; tendency to judge our experience. Our willingness to sit down with ourselves is an expression of friendliness to ourselves. We are already saying something like, I’m worthy of spending time with.

Promote balance of self-inquiry and being in community. Being of service is sometimes the thing that snaps us awake.

In our work together, my goals for you is that we build the tolerance to be with that which we don’t know. Through yoga we can cultivate the ability to sit with that which is ugly, painful, hard, or simply not fun. We can let these feelings transform us rather than stuffing them down.

ROLE OF THERAPY
act as a boat to get you to the other shore, but you’re the one steering it

Provide a steady, calm presence for you to safely and confidently explore your inner world.

acceptance of personal power

It’s time to wake up. Don’t wait another minute. Claim your heart, and claim your glory.

Ryan's goal as a therapist is to help you sort through your thoughts and feelings, offer support through an exchange of ideas and/or validation of your current beliefs, and help you to see the patterns that keep you in a self-perpetuating cycle. She also provides you with tools to increase your capacity for self-awareness, body-awareness, emotional regulation, and momentary relief from stress and anxiety.

Her intention is to be present, to listen, to provide feedback, and to accompany you on your path of self-discovery and healing.

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,

there is a field. I’ll meet you there. - rumi

Friend, our closeness is this:

anywhere you put your foot, feel me

in the firmness under you.

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you.”
